Alright, quiz time.
1) Name the most interesting thing in this image (from an American perspective).
2) Name the thing that SHOULD be there, but isn't.

Answers after the break...see if you can guess beforehand. Points will be awarded.

1) Beer. Yes, that IS beer, and yes, it WAS purchased at McDonalds. Strange, I know. This is in the "first McDonalds in Rome" (or maybe Italy...can't remember).
2) Ketchup. When fries exist, ketchup should be in abundance. Additionally, for me, mustard and mayonnaise should be in attendance as well, as I make a K-M-M cocktail of the three and coat fries liberally, but I realize I'm an outlier (there ya go, Alex) on this one. HOWEVER, ketchup costs FREAKING $.25/PACKET in Rome!! So, how many packets of ketchup did I purchase? None. At 4/$1.00 (actually, 5/1,00 Euro), I decided to skip the goodness that is ketchup.

Woe is me.

Points, by the way, mean nothing, so 1500 to each of you for reading this far.

I got the beer.
Although, though I saw no ketchup, I was going to say SODA.

kinda looks like apple juice, too.

Same as above. Beer at McDonald's with no ketchup.

Important things to understand:
1. Beer and wine have always been sold at McD's in Europe.
2. Ketchup in McD's in Europe is sold, it is not free (it has been like that for at least 15 years).
3. McD's genius is due in part to letting countries develop local varieties and options for their menus. For example, Guatemala sells Fried Chicken and the occasional burger with Guacamole, aside from traditional breakfast options and the fact that McD's in Guatemala DELIVERS. McD's in Brazil does not sell Egg McMuffins or Pancakes, rather, it sells pao de queijo. The Happy Meal was actually invented in McD's Guatemala. Italy also sells pasta as part of their menu.

Juan, is delivered McD's any good? Seems like it would be gross by the time it reached your door.

(And no jokes from the peanut gallery about how McD's is ALREADY gross.)

Matthew...it's actually not bad....and you can order online and everything....they would bring you canned soda instead of in a cup, they don't deliver sundaes or McFlurrys...

Juan...in my america-centric world, none of your 3 points existed. :)

I didn't see wine on the menu...and I didn't notice pasta, though it might have been there.

A burger with guac sounds AWESOME. Will they deliver to DC? :)

They won't deliver to DC, but you can sure try your local Pollo Campero restaurant (Guatemalan fried chicken franchise).

I'm ministering in a PCA church in New Brunswick, on the East Coast of Canada, for the summer. McDonald's here has a McLobster sandwich.
