Chinese Hip Hop

Love it! More about the politically charged underground hip hop from in the New York Times. Very cool, stuff. This music cannot be contained by the government. Music continues to be an underrated vehicle for social change. The revolution continues...

Or, is it simply evidence of rising standards of living in China? I don't see much overtly political about this video.

Read the article. One Chinese rapper spit this:

"If you don't have a nice car or cash

You won't get no honeys

Don't you know China is only a heaven for rich old men

You know this world is full of corruption

Babies die from drinking milk."

Word up.

Abraham, wow, so paying attention to the lyrics is key:)!

Yeah, it's a novel concept, Anthony. Didn't Masta Killa from Wu-Tang say, "The dumb are mostly intrigued by the drum"?

Hello it's your friendly neighborhood Hip Hop fundamentalist.

Great article/video. They (the Chinese) actually get it. They are using the arts to express themselves in a culture that apparently frowns upon individualism and originality. That's Hip Hop. Music is only 1/4 of the underground Hip Hop pie, though.

"The nail that stands out will get hammered."
