Lil' Wayne had the audacity to say this after winning the "viewers choice" at BET Image Awards program:
"I am nothing without God, baby! I just want to say thank God, thank my family and thank Universal."
These are pathetically disgusting lyrics from Lil' Wanye's song(?) "Lollipop:"
Shawty wanna lic-lic-lic-lick me Like a lollipop (Hahaha) She She lic-lic-lic-lick me Like a lollipop (I say he so sweet Make her wanna lick the rapper) She She lick me Like a lollipop (And She Do) She lick me Like a lollipop (So I let her lick the wrapper)
Ahh, Lil' Wayne, what does "Lollipop" have to do with God, bro? What are you thanking God for? Maybe you ought to be thanking the devil for deceiving people into thinking that your music(?) is good or worth listening to. Is it possible that the devil has more to do with your success than God? After all, your music is totally against what God is about in the Bible. Read Colossians chapter 3. Actually, give a read to Romans chapters 1 and 2, maybe you should be thanking God for his patience with you.
B.E.T (Bringing Everybody Trash) should be categorically boycotted by the black church in America (even though they do feature some of America's best black preachers on some programs) it's worth the trade off to at least protest.
What's even more pathetic is that some 9th-grade girl somewhere has this stupid song as a ring tone.
Can someone please get me his contact info.? This must stop!

I had to laugh when Lil' Wayne said that last night. It is always interesting when some of the raunchiest celebrities turn around and thank God or acknowledge God. I know we all fall short, but it irks me to no end when folks who are blatantly livin against His will and then PROFITTING from it turn around and thank Him.
I watched the whole awards show last night - I'm a sucker for awards shows. That was the most BET I have watched in about 5 years, and sadly not much as really changed.
Forget Black Exploitation Television and Lil' Brain, there's a hot show this Friday in the STL for the real heads:

I think what he's rapping about is one of God's greatest gifts to men.
The nerve to sing about completely immoral things and live completely immoral lives, and then thank God for their success. Who do these rappers think they are--country and western singers?
Yeesh. :^)
Anthony,
You asked: "[W]hat does "Lollipop" have to do with God, bro?"
Like an apple tree among the trees of the forest is my lover among the young men. I delight to sit in his shade, and his fruit is sweet to my taste. - Song of Solomon 2:3
Awake, north wind, and come, south wind! Blow on my garden, that its fragrance may spread abroad. Let my lover come into his garden and taste its choice fruits. - Song of Solomon 4:16
Methinks the problem is not so much the lyrics, but rather the fact that Lil Wayne ain't singing this to his wife.
You know, even if he were singing about his wife, I think there's a wee little difference between the genre used and the Song of Songs....there is a not very subtle line between speaking figuratively about the marriage bed and repeating an explicit description of what might go on there dozens of time in a rap song. One is romantic, the other is lewd.
Regarding the specific examples, if the "garden" is the private region of the beloved, we would have to assume that this young lady was "uncovering her nakedness" for the world to see (how else would the wind hit that garden?), and moreover that the apples of a tree grow (ahem) off the trunk and not the branches.
Methinks that you're trying to read a little more into that passage than is actually there, disputatio.
FWIW, his new album is fantastic.
Disputatio needs to read his Bible. Or at least learn how to read it.
Sorry bro... Way off. as far as using scripture.
Maybe you are right, in general, I aint opposed to my wife saying it to me either, but there is no scripture behind it.
Plus its all about intent. SO tiny wang or Lil Wang as they call him has a sinful intent, an evil promotion and an evil affirmation in his intent behind this song. Thats the point! An analogy would be like an abortion doctor thanking God for his most successful year ever.
Now, If Lil Wang has no clue what he is singing about is wrong then maybe he cant be held responsible for being a crass ass.
Given that a lollipop is destroyed in its ordinary use, is Lil' Wayne hoping for castration?
i like de way he sing his sung.hes ma fevarity rapper.

Woah, I'm surprised by the number of Lil Wayne supporters that sabotaged the comments section, not to mention the bad grammar that I can barely read in most of those comments.
And calling Lil Wayne a musician, honestly? He's just a commercial product. "Hater"? haha Yeah, what a defense. Personally, I just ignore this crap as if it doesn't exist, but when the subject does come up, it just baffles me how people are brainwashed and like this shit.
People like Anthony Bradley aren't being some close-minded so-called old prudes when they criticize Lil Wayne. I'm 17, and I didn't like Lil Wayne at all, either when I was younger. Why does this crap even exist? What's so cool about hard drugs like alcohol and purple drank, rampant sex and lust and being gangster and from the ghetto?
Peace and love anyone?
There's nothing "irrational" about this blog entry at all. I'm sure there are plenty of people that would feel they've been wasting their lives if they truly opened themselves up to the world of music.
I could go on, but I'd be wasting my time. Just felt like leaving this on here
