Robin Thicke Is White?

Anthony Bradley

Ok, so a few weeks ago I'm in my sister's Volvo waggon (a true suburban soccer mom) and "Lost Without You" by Robin Thicke (the son of Alan Thicke) played on the radio and she said, "hey, you know he's white, right?" I didn't believe her.

This dude's crossed waaaaaaaaaaaaay over into R&B more than Justin Timberlake ever will. He's mostly and R&B artist whose concert audiences, I imagine, are probably made up of predominantly Latina and black women.

How did he learn how to sing like that? And for those you who are actually familiar with the history of R&B you will remember that a man with a high-pitched singing voice is much beloved by women (for some reason).

Fellas, thoughts?

"...the new millennium's blue-eyed soul movement." - by MacKenzie Wilson (AMG)

It's seems the Thicke family had some Keith Sweat playing around the house when Robin was a boy.

The American Idol show was not his best performance, in fact, the editors sped up and shortened the song.. to really get an idea of how he is live, check out his concert vids on YouTube.... footage from his last London Koko or Paradiso Amsterdam concerts are fabulous... fans have posted great links at the forum on his official website too (www.robinthicke.com).

Alan Thicke, his father, sang the theme song for "Different Strokes" and Alan Thicke's first wife sang the theme song for "The Facts of Life" - he has a pretty soulful background.

It's like a contemporary praise song without Jesus' name... no wait... it's the same.

Speaking of "blue-eyed soul"

Anthony, I think you would really like these guys. Russ Mohr does an unbelievable James Brown. They're St. Louis natives too. Digg it.

Yeah, garrett, it's a horrible song and sadly represent where America's social mores really are. His popularity is bad sign of where we are. But the content simply displays the immorality of today's pop music in general.
