Aight fellas, somehow I made it onto Obama's campaign website. Check it out here at BarackObama.com
Wow!! I'm on a presidential candidate's website. That's cool. Do you think he'd hire me if he wins?
Although I disagree with him on some points, if he invited me to come work for him to provide a balanced perspective in his administration I'd accept! I can work with anyone who has integrity regardless of policy differences.
Posted by anthony at April 24, 2008 09:32 PM | TrackBackcongratulations. Did they read this article before posting it? You explain the Jeremiah Wright thing well for Obama but say he is a nightmare economically. Maybe they should have blacked out those comments like a secret government document. When it comes to the economic rhetoric of this campaign could we play a game where you guess if the quote came from Karl Marx or Michelle Obama? Obama-08, yea.
Posted by: Kevin B. at April 24, 2008 10:05 PMIts interesting that they didn't edit out the economics part. Shows how badly they want to seperate themselves from Jeremiah Wright? Or just a simple oversight in a chaotic campaign?
Nonetheless, props to Anthony for hitting the big time. Our little evangelical is all grown up now!
Posted by: Guy Incognito at April 25, 2008 12:32 AMAnthony! Shall we say
Obama-Bradley campaign? Dark horse candidate?
Round out the party?
I hope folks will take the time watch Bill Moyers Journal tonight on PBS. Bill Moyers will interview Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Again we were treated to sound bites of tonight's show the with talking heads last night to get us to watch tonight, but most of us would like to be judged in context by our own words. I hope that even if people do not agree with what Rev. Wright says they will take the time to listen and try to understand.
Posted by: FREDCTS 74 at April 25, 2008 06:39 AMCongrats, man.
Posted by: Adam at April 25, 2008 09:05 AMI like the sound of "Anthony Bradley, Secretary of Labor."
This Jeremiah Wright issue is not going away, so hopefully you get interviewed more about it. I doubt the PBS piece tonight will help, unless Moyers figures out that the discussion on race as it's currently framed allows minorities blame white people for everything with impunity. And, whites are complicit with this arrangement!
Posted by: Abraham Sangha at April 25, 2008 09:19 AMWow. Beck, Obama, I wish I were culturally relevant.
Posted by: Paul at April 25, 2008 09:46 AMIntegrity--do you mean the same guy who got his house in a suspect deal with Tony Rezko, and didn't report taxable interest until 2005? Do you mean the guy who took credit for a lot of bills he didn't have much to do with in order to get into the Senate? Do you mean the guy who would take an oath to defend the Constitution, and then pretend that the second article of the Bill of Rights was never passed--and then turn around and act as if he supported the right when his record clearly says he doesn't, in order to get votes?
I'll be fair here; not too many politicians DO have integrity, and if you can get past that, I don't quibble with your willingness to work with one. But please; let's be awfully sparing in the use of that word with regards to politicians. It's a matter of....integrity.
Posted by: Bike Bubba at April 25, 2008 02:23 PMBike,
Here we go again... I think this is the part where you call O'bama "Hussein."
You are a funny guy! How is the weather in Minnesota?
Be blessed!
Posted by: aaron at April 25, 2008 03:08 PMBike B says "I'll be fair"?? Reciting republican talking points about Obama's house that are simply not true (he got help with a small portion of the lot next to the house, not the house) and slapping him about the second amendment just piles one into the lack-of-integrity group.
We've had massive amounts of gun violence here (in Obama's neighborhood) over the past year that should at least be troubling enough to us to question our US allegiance to weaponry. It is an intellectually honest issue -- unlike the caricature.
Come, sit here on a corner near 95th street and let's talk about what integrity looks like. . . the southside soul food alone will make the discussion worthwhile!
Posted by: joel at April 27, 2008 01:13 PMFelizidades!
Posted by: Julio Merida at April 28, 2008 09:21 PMGOP talking points? No, it's called "AP News Articles" and such. Rezko's on trial, Joel.
(and gun violence? Let's try ending the 1976 ban on handguns and let people defend themselves from the gangbangers)
And yes, that's his middle name, Aaron. Daniel Pipes also points out that Obama's "I was never a Muslim" mantra is....more than a little bit dubious, according to stepsiblings and others who knew him in Indonesia.
I don't believe he's a Muslim now--his politics are abhorrent to many of the tenets of Islam. I do, however, believe that he's got a little problem with the truth, and hence it's a little bit odd to suggest that he's a candidate of unusual integrity.
Not a huge fan of Mrs. Clinton or Mr. McCain, either. I just take issue with the idea that Obama's been a man of unusual integrity.
