Are You Ready For Some Football??

clemson football the hill.jpg

Yes, yes, yes!!!!!!!! Guys, I'm dying. I hate basketball season. It's soooo boring. The NBA should just wait until the playoffs to be televised and college basketball doesn't get awesome till "March Madness." I know, I know--I just need to hang in there a couple more weeks till the tourny, but man, I'm dying without football.

Football just makes ya feel good. Don't it?

WHat if something happened to college football?
Seriously, what if there was a terror attack and the season shut down?
What if the guys could leave after 1 yr like college b-ball and ruin a huge part of the game?

What if the games become way over commercialized and when you go to the games they have rap music playing while the game is actually going on! (like the NBA, at least some teams) Also, with the desire for more skyboxes and perfect little individual seats and all the perfect, modern, way overpriced concessions, all these can lead to the death of the game as we know it.

But holy cow! I miss it sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo bad. I am literally depressed certain sats. Ohh well at least I have the tiki bar down the st :)

I hear, on Saturday morning I don't know what to do with myself. It's sad.

I wish there were a way to get the NFL Network without having to get cable. Anybody have ideas?

I agree with the article, but why post a picture of Clemson? Do they really play football over there? Are you sure that photo isn't some sort of masquerade ball where a bunch of students got together and PRETENDED to be football players... you know as some sort of inside-joke.

You're talking about this when the Stanley Cup playoffs are coming up? Yeesh.

Posted by: Bike Bubba at March 7, 2008 01:33 PM

Stanley, who?? Nobody cares about hockey

Those purple uniforms are really cute. What a bunch of flamers. Looks like a bunch of Barneys swaying back and forth to "I love you, you love me..."

Posted by: Justin at March 8, 2008 10:33 AM

ahhh, sure Justin, that makes sense. It's purple jersey because it's one of the school's colors. So I guess you say the same thing about the Minnesota Vikings (and their purple, heck their whole website is purple) and let's see, ahhhh, the football at Northwestern University. Yeah, the Minnesota Vikings are "flamers"?? Sure thing.

Posted by: Anthony at March 8, 2008 10:40 AM

Oh, THAT's why they wear purple - it's one of the school's colors! I would've never guessed! And Clemson's (unfortunate) selection of purple as one of their school colors means that purple is no longer an effeminate color because.........

I take offence at your comments, Anthony! I care very much about hockey! I am saddened that there will be no playoff hockey in St. Louis - nor will there be in my native Toronto.

I'm starting to get used to this college sports thing...and the ignorance of the great sport of hockey. :)

Wow, Justin the Gamecock is getting kind of testy!

Posted by: Jeff Kerr at March 8, 2008 12:33 PM

Jeff, you should be offended indeed. I actually started to watch hockey. I even went to minor league games in Michigan. After the strikes, I was officially done with the sport.

And if Justin's is a "gamecock" be not surprised at his comments. If he went there, and graduated, we should celebrate the fact that he knows how to read and use the internet. Let him rant on the colors all he wants. We could even give him crayons to make his very substantive argument:) We'll just "leave him be."

Posted by: Anthony at March 8, 2008 02:05 PM

Jeff, I should pull a Riley Cote on you for blowing my cover as a Gamecock. :)

And since Anthony's a Clemson grad, we should celebrate the fact that he's involved anywhere in academia and not milking cows or churning butter or ice cream somewhere.

You like the regular season football, but not basketball?

I don't know what to say. I've always been a basketball guy, but I for one prefer basketball season to football...

Posted by: Westy at March 9, 2008 11:35 PM

Well, a lot of folks around the Twin Cities DO call them the "ViQueens," especially after an embarassing loss to the Lions.

(how do you keep Lions out of your backyard? You put up goalposts!)

And yeah, nobody cares about hockey, which is why there are a lot of expansion teams doing pretty well down South.
