A Beagle Wins Westminster?????
Fellas, I can't believe a Beagle won "Best of Show" at the Westminster Kennel Club competition this year. I didn't watch it this year (I went several years without missing the competition) but I would love to see how this dog won. Very strange. Here's the story.
NEW YORK (AP) -- America has a new Snoop doggie. Uno the beagle wins best in show at the Westminster Kennel Club. Barking and baying up a storm, Uno lived up to his name Tuesday night by becoming the first beagle to win best in show at the Westminster Kennel Club. The nation's new top dog was clearly the fan favorite and drew a standing ovation from the sold-out crowd at Madison Square Garden when he was picked. Uno got right into the act, jumping up on handler Aaron Wilkerson and confirming his other title: noisiest in show. Years from now, he'll be known for the "ah-roo" heard 'round the ring.

At least a dog you would want to look at everyday at home won it for once. I think standard poodles ought to be wiped off the face of the earth. Those stupid hair cuts and bows and such, it disgusts me. Hooray for the underdog.
BRO!!!!! Dude, I miss kickin' with you as well. I hope life's treatin' you well. You're right about the dogs. I long for the day when I will see a St. Bernard when "Best in Show"

Best in Show is awarded to the dog that best fulfills the standards of its breed. Therefore, Rottweiler contestants are judged by how well they meet the exemplars expected of Rottweilers; Beagles the same. The dog that the judges feel best meets all exemplars expected of its breed as compared to how the other contestants meet the exemplars of their respective breeds wins Best in Show. Uno is a beautiful Beagle. I'm not surprised he won, even with the "detriment" of being a working dog.
