Obama Leads!!!

obama leads.jpg

Obama, who trounced Clinton in January's South Carolina primary, garnered 49 percent of registered Democrats in Monday's poll, while Clinton trailed by just three points

According to a new CNN/Opinion Research Group poll, Obama is now leading Clinton by 3 points!! The democrats are wising up. In the boredom of the Republican race McCain (who would loose to Obama) is clearly leading. I don't get what the republicans see in the guy.

Me neither!

I am neither a declared republican nor a democrat. However, being a Christian and being embarrassed by the "religious right" and not convinced that social issues are the most important element in this election, I would prefer that others perceive me as a democrat. Democrats appear to be more fun and more intelligent!

With all that said (and in light of that), I like McCain. I probably like him for his moderate stance (or maybe because I am really confused and therefore riding the fence). Sure, he is really old and unfortunately he does not look like change (he is an old white guy) but to me he seems like the best choice because I am hesitant about the democratic tendency to increase taxes and therefore, in my opinion, hurt the economy even further.

I want to vote for Obama because I think he is a solid candidate and would be great for our country. And if he were more fiscally conservative I would undoubtedly vote for him. But since he is not, I am debating between him and McCain.

What's wrong with McCain?

Obama seems like a great person. I just wish he would study economics and worship government way less (or not at all).

I don't see what republicans see in McCain either. Romney has greater character and is truer to the conservative cause. I don't understand why democrats favor Hillary at all. It seems a forgone conclusion that Obama could win an election v. a republican. I'm still cheering for Hillary though, because Obama will destroy our economy and ruin six years of work in Iraq by flat out quitting on our cause. (As will Hillary, but I think she could lose the main election).

For me, I'll never vote democrat because their economics just don't work. I think Huckabee's the polar opposite of the democrats, that's why I like him. Getting rid of the IRS, sounds like an interesting plan to me!

Mark, Huckabee's tax plan is widely considered the most radical and potentially devastating plan of anyone in the race on the right or the left. If you want to vote for the fiscal opposite of the democrats, then go for Ron Paul.

Personally, I'm voting Obama.

Toņio, I haven't seen one Hillary sign being lifted by any supporters in Berkeley. The signs for this Super Tuesday have only been OBAMA.

However, Hillary did call me three times yesterday, one time in Spanish.

Frankly, I am thoroughly confused. Grew up righter sided. Absolutely love the Bible. Have little idea what political side or issue reflects Biblical truth in politics, except we don't kill babies, and we must love the aliens in our midst (this doesn't necessarily mean 'amnesty'). I'm also upset that there are few even-handed Christian guides for understanding politics.

What does God want from our country? I do know is this: whoever He places in office, believer or not, they are yet called to administer His justice. See Cyrus in Isaiah, and Christopher Bryan, Render to Caesar (NY: Oxford, 2005).

But which economic stance combines the perspective of God's justice, responsible stewardship, and separation/combination of church/state? Which stance on the war reflects what God would desire? Etc., etc. What's important to God with respect to the governmental realm, beside that we honor our leaders?

Anthony, maybe Christian Ethics will spell some of this out a little. Thank you for your website, and to all the contributors. I enjoy the way it pokes at some of my default thought processes. Thanks for all the work you put into it. God bless you. God bless everyone as they cast their vote.
