On NPR Yesterday

Friends, I was on "News and Notes" yesterday.

News & Notes, December 17, 2007 · Sen. Barack Obama's campaign is benefiting from Oprah Winfrey's endorsement, but is the "Queen of Talk" facing a backlash from some fans?

Plus, the estranged husband of evangelist Juanita Bynum makes a public apology.

Farai Chideya discusses that and more with bloggers Eisa Ulen, Anthony Bradley of The Institute, and Earl Dunovant of Prometheus 6.

This was a great conversation. Eisa and Earl are brilliant people! Wow, I was humbled to be with the program.

You can listen here.

Fellas, do you think the Obama/Oprah tour is going to make a difference? Is it wrong for Oprah to campaign for him?

I don't know if it is wrong for her to campaign for him, but it is wrong that there are people that will listen to her because she's Oprah and not because she knows anything about politics.

The real question is: who would win in a tag team free-for-all - Obama/Oprah or Huckabee/Chuck Norris. When it comes to celebrity endorsements you can't go wrong with Walker Texas Ranger.

But Will Smith endorses Obama as well! And he's saved the planet twice!

Not being a 'color' I can't really feel the pain that people OF COLOR feel. But reading your blogs have helped me understand a little better. I have always judged people by what they DO, or what they SAY. It is my opinion that GOD has created us all equal - all of us have handicaps and all of us have talents... but some of us spend our whole lives making excuses why we CAN'T do something... instead of finding ways to succeed!

Survival of the fittest... best person for the job... if at first you don't succeed-try-try again!

Look at the videos from Iraq... all the men rioting and fighting -> why don't they go to work to make their country better - all the men-power used for destruction?!

GOD doesn't make a bad product - stand up and be proud! If HE is with us... who can be against us???!

Turn off the TV and the COMPUTER (games) and spend time together, looking into each others eyes and talking and playing and being together.

Love is the greatest gift of all !

... and lastly - SPEAK ENGLISH! Correct, appropriate ENGLISH, not slang or hood-speak - have respect for yourself -> be proud - YOU are made in HIS image and likeness!

Aside from whether her endorsement helps his campaign, I think people are missing what a ige organizing tool those events were for the campaign. In order to get tickets to the Iowa event folks had to volunteer for the campaign and district folks were given tickets to give to fence sitters. In SC, folks signed a pledge card of sorts, so now the campaign has contact info for thousands of folks it did nt previously have. From a campaign perspective that is huge. If anything, I think the fact that Oprah has not endorsed a candidate before gives a level of authenticity that other celebrity endorsements lack. And for that, it gave folks pause and maybe gave them reason to give him a second look.

What the hell is Just Meee talking about! Has nothing to do with the post or anything close to relevance. Some people are just so ignorant of their ignorance. Can anyone tell me what this person is talking about so I can then recant what I just said.

Holla!
Grace and Peace!

I thought just Meee was very articulate...

Alien, Robots, Vampire Diseases, DJ Jazzy Jeff -

Why does the bad stuff always happen to Will Smith?

Aaron,, Aaron! ! !
..."Some people are just so ignorant of their ignorance. Can anyone tell me what this person is talking about so I can then recant what I just said"...

and you end your message with "GRACE and PEACE!"

By your response you definitely lack GRACE and I question if there PEACE in your heart???? I think not!

...and I thought this was America... where one could speak freely.. without being made to feel like their input was irrelevant...

Perhaps in this season of gratitude... one should remember... that Jesus is the reason for the season...

No need to apologize... I never go into a battle of wits with an unarmed man!

Just Meee,
You know what man I am with you. I shouldn't have said those things about the ignorance. Sometimes I react before I think and this was definitely a case where I did that. Forgive me. This isn't even my blog so to speak with any "hotheadedness" is crazy on my part. My bad Just Meee!

Grace and Peace, (for real this time)
