College Football Talk: Gamecocks, Boston College, What??

standford beats usc.jpg
(Tim Sims celebrates after Stanford's upset of USC, 24-23)

Here's a great recap of the weekend's ranking craziness at ESPN.

Here's the top ten:

1. LSU (65) 6-0 1,625
2. California 5-0 1,538
3. Ohio State 6-0 1,511
4. Boston College 6-0 1,346
5. South Florida 5-0 1,339
6. Oklahoma 5-1 1,221
7. South Carolina 5-1 1,183
8. West Virginia 5-1 1,059
9. Oregon 4-1 1,047
10. USC 4-1 1,024

USC number 10? Wait, I thought they were the "best college team" ever or something stupid like that?

Stanford?? Are you kidding me. I guess that means that Rice or Duke could have beat them too?

Steve Spurrier--what can you say? Looks like he's doing it again. It's just amazing.

Dropped From Rankings:
Rutgers 21, Clemson 22, Purdue 23, Kansas State 24, Nebraska 25. Sigh.

Fellas, thoughts?

Maybe, just maybe, we can go one preseason without ESPN and most of the rest of the country dubbing USC as the Best Team Ever.

Ohio State at number 3 is a complete joke. Unfortunately (or for OSU fans, fortunately), the Big Ten is terrible and OSU has a good chance of going undefeated. Of course that means they won't drop in rankings and after Cal loses to USC, OSU will get to get pummeled by LSU in the Sugar Bowl.

Paul, very true stuff about Ohio State. It must be nice to be in a weak conference.

How you guys going to disrespect the Big 10? We are second (maybe) to the SEC. The ACC is wack, The Pac-10 is horrible, UCLA loses to ND LOL! They can't be serious. Boston College will show their true colors, just like California, what have the done?

Ohio State should be ranked below Boston College. I'm a Tenn Vols fan...excuse me...was...and even I say Gamecocks were screwed by dirty officiating and Tennessee's constant cheating. USC really beat us Vols 28-14 if the officiating would have been legit.

Man, I've been a Tenn Vols fan my whole life. But even I've got to admit that we did NOT deserve the win tonight. We cheated and didn't get penalized. We committed a pass interference against the Gamecocks which would have been a touchdown. The officials were cheating at the 4th quarter field goal by USC. We sucked and USC Gamecocks came back hard on us and legitimately kicked our butts. I'm not even proud to be a Vols fan. I think I'm jumping away. Tennessee has been getting 'breaks' for a while now and Coach Fulmer sucks hard. I'm changing teams dude.
