He looked really good at the debate tonight. What'd you guys think? If Thompson doesn't enter he may have a really good chance. The rest of the guys seem unimpressive.

Posted by: t.smith at May 15, 2007 10:57 PMHow about a Fred Thompson/Condi Rice ticket?
Posted by: LT Entrekin at May 16, 2007 12:14 AMThompson/Rice!!! We could only hope! That would be amazing. The dems wouldn't have a chance (I don't think). The Iraq War's a problem though.
Posted by: anthony Bradley at May 16, 2007 09:23 AMI don't have cable (sad, I know) and I know nothing about the guy... what are your thoughts?
Posted by: Brad at May 16, 2007 11:02 AMI think he seems sort of fake. And just keeping it real, I also fear it will do a lot to get Mormonism mainstream acceptance.
Posted by: barlow at May 16, 2007 01:15 PMI'm not sure any Republican could get elected in 2008 for president. Especially if Gore enters the race.
Personally, I'd love to see Romney/Santorum or Thompson/Santorum.
Michael Steele in Maryland hasn't held a position higher than Lt. Governor. I'm not sure he's qualified enough to be vp, but give it time. He's up and coming.
Condi Rice would be sweet, but alas, whoever ends up as the Republican candidate will probably try to have as few ties to the Bush/Cheney administration as possible.
Posted by: Jim Roach at May 16, 2007 01:24 PMJim, good points!! Yeah, Condi would be a liability!
Posted by: anthony Bradley at May 16, 2007 05:03 PMRon Paul looks real good, but he hasn't got a chance.
Posted by: juris naturalist at May 16, 2007 11:02 PMOk, here would be my dream ticket (meaning it would never happen).
GEN (Ret.) Tommie Franks/Condi Rice
Campaign slogan could be, "Let's finish the job!"
Posted by: LT Entrekin at May 16, 2007 11:16 PMAnthony, you mean to tell me that after hanging around all those classical liberals at the Acton Institute that you're not leaning towards Ron Paul. Shame on you! In my opinion, he is the best candidate by far. He may not "look as presidential" as Romney, or have the money of a Giuliani, but i suspect that he is the only candidate among the 10 that has actually read the Constitution in its entirety. Therefore, he would be the only one to take the oath of office and actually have a clue as to what he was affirming to uphold.
Posted by: christopher at May 17, 2007 12:23 AMChristopher, as Juris said, "Ron Paul looks real good, but he hasn't got a chance."
A Supreme Court nomination is on the line during the next term.
Posted by: anthony Bradley at May 17, 2007 12:27 PMI'm backing Giuliani.
Posted by: giuliani at May 18, 2007 01:08 PMI'm backing Giuliani.
Posted by: giuliani at May 18, 2007 01:09 PMRomney's just too "johnny come lately" to pro-life and pro-gun for my taste. He beats the Democrats in my book on these (as would Guiliani as far as I can tell even), but I just don't trust him yet.
Juckabee or Brownback for me so far.
