Why Men Won't Pursue Women In A Way That Is Needed

mennotpursuing.jpg

Staci Eldredge (and John) say that many men are reluctant to dive into the world of woman in a way that God calls men to do because of one of guy's deepest fear, failure.

"He fears that having delved into his woman's world, he won't have what it takes to help her there. This is his sin. This is his cowardice. And because her [sense of] shame, most of the time a man gets away with it. Most marriages (and long-term dating relationships) reach this sort of unspoken settlement. "I'm not coming any closer. This is as far as I'm willing to go. But, I won't leave, and that ought to make you happy. . .

The effect is that most women feel alone."(Captivating, 86).

Wow. So if a man fails to live as God intends his fear of failing, exposing the fact that he may not have it all together like he fronts, results in distance, silence, and wounds.

The other truth, as explored later, is that many women have such a broken sense of independence that they won't really risk the vulnerability of letting guys in.
