Come Once France, what's up with EU?
French citizens want to have their cake and eat it too. They want the benefits of government control without contributing to THE key activity that provides government the ability to dehumanize by subjugating personal responsibility: that is, WORK.
The French live in a modern socialist state and won't ratify the EU constitution because it might move them into participating in the global market economy. What?
France's unemployment rate is 10%. It's a soft-socialist state where government takes care of nearly everything. The problem: the government is running out of money. France also has a declining birth-rate. And until recently, it was ILLEGAL to work more than 35 hours a week.
If you don't work, you don't eat. Hey France, your socialist government has to get its money from somewhere. One who think that the French would actually WANT more revenue for the government so that it can control even more of their lives--that's how they seem to like it.
