I'm moving today. Right now, actually. I hate it. I can't think of many things worse in life. This must be a picture of one dimension of eternal punishment. I just have to find the verse.
Anybody else hate moving? Are there any freaks that love it?
Posted by anthony at June 11, 2007 09:21 AM | TrackBackThe only thing worse than moving is finding out your movers underbid you by $1500 the day you're supposed to leave for Oklahoma from California and it's too late to use another company...speaking hypothetically of course.
Posted by: Paul Franks at June 11, 2007 09:49 AMOr if the movers your aunt hires turn out to be two teenagers and a horsetrailer and you end up having to help move all of their heavy heirloom furniture in 100 degree Texas heat!
Posted by: Julisa at June 11, 2007 09:54 AMlol - Everytime I move, I always say to whoever is present that rooms in hell probably have people packing up my cluttered house forever.
Posted by: scott Cunningham at June 11, 2007 10:16 AMMy heart goes out to ya, bro. I moved 6 times last year between graduating college, army training, and getting married. Suck.
But look on the bright side, you have your own house. What area did you end up finding a place?
Posted by: Brad at June 11, 2007 11:22 AMYeah, moving blows. I just moved 1400 miles packing all I could fit in my '94 Mazda 626...all the rest is coming down in one of those PODS in a little over a week. And to think that in two years I have to do it again!
Posted by: Jake at June 11, 2007 11:30 AMI too hate moving but I must say I do find it quite helpful in eliminating much of the crap I accumulate over the years. A form of purging one might say. Besides, I think the pain of the move grows exponentially with the distance of the move (we just moved back to St Louis from San Antonio). I pray your move is short.
Posted by: Darden Caylor at June 11, 2007 11:58 AMUgh . . . yeah, moving stinks. Though I do like packing other people's stuff.
Posted by: Jess at June 11, 2007 12:26 PMThink of C.S. Lewis' depiction of Napoleon in the Great Divorce endlessly marching around his own little house as it sped further and further away from human contact. There'd be constant "moving."
Posted by: Jordan at June 11, 2007 12:48 PMWe don't like moving either, but we'll be making a move cross country 3000 miles away starting this coming Saturday! We're even making the move without a moving truck, so that's been quite an exercise in downsizing and decluttering. And it's not just moving me, it's moving a family - wife and son.
Posted by: djchuang at June 11, 2007 01:05 PMI mostly hate it, but part of me loves it. I'm an eternal slob, and when we move somewhere new I feel like it's a new chance to start this place off right. Of course, that never happens. The place is usually all cluttered up the second all the boxes are put away (which is usually months after we've moved).
Posted by: Vida at June 11, 2007 01:25 PMI like helping other people for a few hours (if they have boxed up their stuff well - courtesy of the little pharisee in my mind).
I abhor moving myself (and wife, and kid), but you will survive...
Posted by: Matt Blazer at June 11, 2007 03:07 PMI like moving - gives me a fresh start.
Posted by: Bianca at June 11, 2007 06:38 PMOur first parents had to move out of the garden and we've been moving ever since.
Posted by: Wayne at June 11, 2007 07:19 PMI don't like moving at all. I can typicaly endure the packing part and the transfer of packed boxes, but unpacking is a big fat pain that always comes after I'm completely out of motivation. Ugh.
Posted by: dramaturge at June 11, 2007 11:15 PMWhat you don't like moving? What the heck is wrong with you?
just kidding. I know it must be hell. Blessings on your china and breakables.
Posted by: Brandon at June 11, 2007 11:18 PMYeah moving's wiggity (wack), especially when you're trying to figure out what to put with what in which boxes. Then you're finding stuff you should have put with other stuff that's already packed and taped-up. Moving's a nightmare if you're a neat freak and want everything organized.
Here's the question of the hour, though: Where is Anthony moving??
Posted by: Tyler at June 13, 2007 12:36 AMJust go knock on one of your new neighbors' doors. I'm sure they'll be glad to help you get settled. Unless, of course, they're too busy blogging on the computer. . . .
