www.XXXchurch.com: What do you think about this?
Hey, I ran into this XXXchurch.com which seeks to help Christian men break porn addictions.
I was wondering if anyone thinks this site is a good idea? Or if they've heard that it's actually helpful.
They have this cool software that sends two friends, you designate, reports of your internet site traffic when inappropriate.
The site continues to get a lot of press. Read the "hate mail "section. It's fascinating.

They're extremely solid in their position on Biblical sexuality , but there is that whole "let's-only-offend-established-church-folks" mindset that seems to permate a lot of these newer, "edgier" ministries. They're also trying a little too hard to be cool, which is silly. I'm also not sure how I feel about the whole going-to-porn-expos thing because, well, it's gotta be hard on their marriages.
I think the idea is excellent, but the implementation is less than stellar. The software is easily over-ridden and the list of "questionable" sites is not very well vetted. For example, even though I have not visited anything questionable, I have seen my "accountability report" and it lists nearly every story I've read on the NYTimes website, the local newspaper website and the WORLD blog. I'm not sure I want my accountability partner to have to filter through my list of clean surfing to check up on whether I've been surfing the really dangerous waters.
I think that what they're doing is GREAT simply because porn is a subject and issue that noone really wants to deal with head-on, like they're supposed to be doing, and it's not just up to the two pastors who started xxxchurch.com to do it all. They were simply just willing to as God told them to do, and that's what they are doing, and God is making alot of wonderful things happen because they were willing to allow Him to make it happen. And maybe those "established" church folks need to be offended, because if they are so easily offended by a Christian website that deals with porn head-on, then maybe they have a problem with it, and they don't want to deal with it. OR maybe they're established in their religious nonsense more than they are in God's Word, and that religious mess in them is what gets bothered by REAL Believers making a difference in the lives of people who are involved in a sinful lifestyle that makes them believe that God does not love them at all, and that He never will. Of course the software is not gonna be perfect, but the REAL point of the software is so that those people who really DO want to get out of the addiction of pornography, can download the small program, and have people to whom they can be held accountable to for visiting porn sites, so that they can begin to see that what they are doing is indeed WRONG, and that they do indeed have a problem with it. It's not meant to be used by people who DON'T have a problem with going to porn sites. I don't think or feel like they are trying to be cool, they're just being who God made them to be, plain and simple, and I don't think nor do I believe that them going to the porn conventions will ever be hard on their marriages, simply because they are in a REAL relationship that God put them to be together in. I won't lie, I used to have a problem with porn, until God got ahold of me, and started dealing with me about it, and He then brought a wonderful woman into my life that TRULY loves me for who I am, and I love her for who she is. Now, porn is not EVEN the weakness that it used to be to me, because God made that happen in my life, because I HONESTLY wanted to get out of that mess, because I KNEW that it would ruin my life. I applaud them for being willing to go to those porn expos, because there's gotta be SOMEBODY who are REAL Believers in Jesus that are willing to go forth and minister to those who are involved in porn in a non-judgmental fashion, through the love and healing power of the Holy Spirit. All I can say is, WAY TO GO MIKE AND CRAIG!!!
